PORTRAIT COMMISSIONS

There is nothing more challenging and interesting to paint, than the human face. My goal is to have my client be
delighted with the completed portrait, and that it accurately reflects not only their likeness, but also their character, and at the same time be a good painting. The portrait should be a painting that the sitter will be proud
of, and one that crystallizes a moment in time that we choose to remember. It could be a corporate portrait to
enhance the office. It may be of parents, children, grand children or other loved ones, and ultimately be a piece
of artwork that will be deeply treasured within the family.
PROCEDURE
In beginning a portrait, Philip will meet with the client, either in their home or work place (providing there is a room with good lighting) to at first discuss some basic issues such as the intended size of the portrait, where will it hang, whether it is to be a formal or informal portrait, tentative choices are made about clothing, furniture, background etc. Spending time with the sitter in this way is very beneficial in gaining an insight into their personality.
Then Philip will take digital photographs to record various poses, gestures and facial expressions. From these photos, the client and Philip will discuss which image best reflects the likeness of the sitter. Additional photos of possible props, furniture and backgrounds would be taken, and from all these photos, compositional sketches would be presented, for approval.
Hopefully, this would all be done in one or two sittings. Armed with all this information and reference material, Philip would return to his studio to produce the portrait, using only the finest quality art materials. The client is entitled to see the painting while in progress, but be assured Philip has a customer satisfaction guarantee with all his artwork. Once the painting is completed, it is then delivered to the client.

PORTRAIT TESTIMONIALS

"It's been several years now since Philip painted this amazing portrait of our children It's a daily reminder to us of just how much they have grown and changed.
Philip has captured in detail not only their appearance but their very
character and personalities. Every time we look at the painting reminds us that the young adults they have now become, were once these spirited, precocious, delightful, mischievous and very precious children."

" I approached Philip Farley to paint a portrait of my son and the two loves of his life, his Siberian huskies. This painting would be special as it was a 30th birthday surprise for my son Nathan. When I saw the completed portrait I was amazed and in awe of it.
It was beyond my wildest expectation. The attention to every detail of the subject was amazing. I felt like patting the dogs then and there, it was like having them in the room. The painting of my son was so life-like. He had captured on the canvas what I see in Nathan in real life, a person who is happy, especially when surrounded by friends.
I knew from the moment I set eyes on the portrait that Nathan would treasure it forever."

"Words cannot express what this portriat means to me.
To be "immortalised" in such a stunning work of art, is an extremely powerful and emotionally humbling experience.
Thankyou Philip, for allowing me to see myself for the first time, as truely beautiful. I am in awe of your amazing gifted talent."
