Hughsville

from A$600.00

Let your eyes linger on the detailed iron lacework and deep, shady verandahs. Conjure, for a moment, the gentle rhythm of a way of life that has passed into history. A farmer whistles up his working dogs as he pulls on his boots. A woman's brow glistens as she stokes a fire under the copper on laundry day. Doe-eyed cattle tread a well-worn path to the milking shed. Children, slim and tanned, set off for a distant school on horseback.

The last vestige of a vast rural property, Hughesville now sits marooned in a sea of suburban brick and tile. Although a major renovation has changed the way Hughesville looks today, the original character, grace and dignity of this lovely old homestead is captured forever in this exceptionally fine image Philip has previously painted Hughesville twice. Taking both images to print, they proved very popular and are still in demand despite being sold out some time ago. This will be his last tribute to this grand old lady.
